Due for launch in July, the updated 2017 BMW 2 Series Convertible and Coupe will offer an array of cosmetic and equipment upgrades from bumper to bumper.

Essentially, the drivetrains remain the same for the 2017 model year, however, BMW claims the addition of turbocharger technology enhanced by common-rail direct injection systems now features on all diesel engines.

Engine choices start with petrol units ranging in power from 100kW in the entry 118i to 250kW in the M240i. Diesel engines range from 110kW in the 218d to 165kW in the 225d.

The 2017 BMW 2 Series coupe and convertible will be available with a choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

The list of upgrades sees the option of an 8.8-inch touchscreen, this is available with the Navigation system Professional. There is also an inductive charging tray for wirelessly charging compatible smartphones as well as Apple CarPlay.

Also on the inside, 2017 BMW 2 Series models have a redesigned instrument panel making information clearer to the driver.

The exterior in the upgraded 2017 BMW 2 Series coupe and convertible now features redesigned bi-LED headlights as standard. There is also the option of adaptive full-LEDs for the main headlights.

Also at the front, the kidney grille and outer air intake are larger.

At the rear, LED single-piece lights are included.

Both body styles will be available in Luxury Line, Sport Line and M Sport specifications.

Exterior paint shades of Mediterranean Blue, Seaside Blue and Sunset Orange are now available as well as wheel options that now expanded to 17 different designs across the 16, 17 and 18-inch light alloys.

Local pricing has not been confirmed as yet though it should not differ extensively from pre-update figures.
