BMW Group Australia has announced specifications and pricing for the 2017 5 Series Touring range.
BMW Group Australia CEO, Marc Werner said: “We have a dedicated, loyal 5 Series Touring customer base. This latest generation will appeal strongly to these customers, while also providing a compelling option for those seeking a technically advanced, versatile vehicle in this market space.”
The new-generation 5 Series Touring comes in two models, the 520d Touring, starting at $99,900 plus on-roads and the 530i Touring, starting from $115,500 plus on-roads.
Both models come with four-pot engines with the 520d boasting a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 140kW of power and 400Nm of torque. The 530i is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 185kW of power and 350Nm of torque.
The new BMW 5 Series Touring range comes packed with the latest technology aimed at safety, comfort and convenience. This can be seen with the automatic tailgate function which also incorporates a rear windscreen that can be opened and an automatically retracting rear luggage cover. The tailgate can also be opened with the sweeping of a foot under the rear bumper.
Other features include roller blinds for the rear passenger windows, Silver Matte roof rails and the Luggage Compartment Package which enables multiple options for securing luggage no matter the size or shape. The rear seats also remotely fold due to a button in the tailgate for added convenience.
Many of the same technology and connectivity features are shared with the 5 Series sedan but exclusive to the new 5 Series Touring is a new Heads-Up Display featuring a 12.3-inch Multi-Function Screen in the 530i as standard or as an option in the 520d. The Remote 3D View for BMW Connected Apps users will also be rolled out for the Australian 5 Series Touring variants. This feature uses the vehicle’s surround-view cameras to show the car on a smartphone.
BMW 5 Series Touring customers also have the option of choosing from 13 exterior paint options and 6 interior trim finishes. The 530i also has 7 Dakota leather upholstery colours and 4 Nappa leather options to choose from when specified in the Luxury Line trim.
