The updated 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is on sale from $41,990 plus on-roads in showrooms around Australia.
With a host of new upgrades and virtually no price increase, this can only be a win for Nissan customers.
The 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine has been upgraded to deliver 202kW of power and 340Nm of torque. The supercharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid petrol engine is unchanged and carried over.
All new Pathfinders are outfitted with Nissan’s third-generation Xtronic transmission, which includes D-step Logic Control.
Both two- and four-wheel-drive are offered with the V6 engine across all grades. Nissan’s ALL MODE 4x4-I System, which has three modes being 2WD, AUTO and LOCK, is also employed.
To combat the harsh Australian road surfaces the new Pathfinders feature independent strut front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. Nissan engineers are aiming for a smoother ride on and off the bitumen.
Keeping the car securely in contact with the ground are brand new high-contrast wheels available in 18-inch for the ST and ST-L and 20-inch for the Ti.
Safety has not been forgotten either with a multitude of advanced safety and driver assistance technologies available. These include Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Moving Object Detection (MOD), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Six airbags, reversing camera, rear parking sensors and Advanced Drive-Assist Display are also fitted as standard on all model grades which helps the Pathfinder achieve a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
Also standard across the range is an eight-inch colour touch screen display, Bluetooth hands free phone system, audio streaming now on ST grade, voice control, two iPod-compatible USB ports (or three on the Pathfinder Ti), cruise control, Tri-Zone climate control with air vents for all three seating rows, i-Key remote keyless entry (with memory on Ti grade), roof rails, privacy glass in the second and third row and rear windows, LED daytime running lights and halogen headlights with manual levelling or LED headlights for Ti grade.
For those needing flexible storage and carrying options the second row of seats is split 60/40 and the third row 50/50 in all grades of the Pathfinder. This means the Pathfinder can offer up to 2,260 litres of cargo storage.
Adding to the storage capabilities are ten cup holders, six bottle holders and an under-floor storage compartment behind the third row of seats.
In a clever move, a motion activated power-operated tailgate is available on the Ti grade.
All Pathfinder model grades include a three year/100,000km warranty and 24-Hour roadside assistance program.
