The new 2017 Renault Clio has arrived in the land down under with a new look and a sharper price tag.
In-line with Renault’s new variant lines the 2017 Clio will be available in the Life, with a manual transmission or six-speed dual-clutch EDC, and the Zen, Intens and GT-Line, with EDC only, with the Clio R.S launching in the not too distant future.
Powering all of the six-speed dual-clutch EDC variants is a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 88kW of power at 4900rpm and 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm.
The base model five-speed manual gets a 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 66kW of power at 5000rpm and 135Nm of torque at 2500rpm.
The Life variant will include body-coloured door mirrors and handles, a chrome boot lid strip, chrome door sill insert and chrome trim radiator grille and a new 16-inch flex wheel design on the exterior. On the interior, it features hands-free entry with smart key, push button start, automatic dusk-sensing headlights and automatic windscreen wipers with rain sensor, rear view camera, rear parking sensors, ECO mode, electric windows and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Moving up to the Clio Zen, new exterior styling starts with Renault’s new C-shaped lighting signature with Pure Vision LED headlights, front fog lights with a chrome surround, front parking sensors, satellite navigation with voice control, a gloss black treatment for the lower rear bumper trim, side door protection and B-pillar. There is also classy looking two-tone 16-inch Pulsize alloy wheels.
The Intens model takes it a step further with chrome window trim, side parking sensors, hands-free parking, driver’s armrest, LED cabin lights, 3D Arkamys sound system, R-LINK navigation and multimedia system with voice control, height adjustable passenger’s seat, velvet and artificial leather upholstery, climate control, rear privacy glass and 17-inch Optemic two-tone alloy wheels.
There is also free personalisation available on the inside and out including the door sill insert, grille insert and boot lid available in Flame Red or Ivory as well as the dashboard, door panel and seat highlights available in Intense Red or Grey to match.
The new GT-Line has Renault Sport-inspired blue highlights for the upholstery, aluminium sport pedals, GT-Line badging, Renault Sport rear spoiler, leather handbrake handle, satin grey for the door mirrors, exterior trim, front and rear bumper insert as well as 17-inch Serdar alloy wheels for a sportier option.
“The award-winning Clio is one of Renault’s most well-known nameplates around the world,” said Mr Justin Hocevar, Renault Australia’s Managing Director. “Clio is one of our core models in Australia and continues to be one of our strongest selling vehicles.
“Despite diminishing stock of the outgoing model, sales kicked off strongly on Clio already this year, which is set to continue given its reputation for appealing design and attractive interior packaging. Now that we’ve added more features, new technology and a sharp price, on top of our excellent five-year warranty and capped price service programme, Clio is an even better value proposition,” Mr Hocevar said.
Renault has sharpened its pencil, the new 2017 Cleo range starts over $2000 cheaper when compared to the outgoing model.
