Marking 30 years since BMW’s first open-top high-performance car, the M3 convertible, joined the line-up, the latest incarnation in the form of the BMW M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years has been revealed.
Limited to only 300 vehicles, the special M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years will hit the blacktop with the M Competition Package meaning 331kW of power and 550Nm of torque from a straight six. This is complemented by an M Sport exhaust system, adaptive M suspension and the Active M Differential.
Two body colours, known as Macao Blue metallic and Mandarin II uni reflect the heritage of the car with the first being the debut hue and the second a throwback to the second generation BMW M3 Convertible pigment then known as Dakar Yellow.
An array of standard features adorn the Edition 30 such as BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line trims for the BMW kidney grille surround, M side gills, model lettering and forged M light alloy wheels with a star- spoke design.
Exclusive to the Edition 30 model will be an Orbit Grey matt colour for the 20-inch wheels.
There will also be matching Merino full leather trim to complement the exterior paintwork as well as two two-tone colour combinations known as Black/Fjord Blue and Black/Silverstone.
Contrast stitching on the headrests and M floor mats with piping in the respective colour continue the theme. There is also a black interior surface with yellow contrast stitching to complement the Mandarin II uni colour or interior trim strips in the version Carbon Fibre come as standard for all edition model variants.
To distinguish the M4 Convertible Edition 30 Years from the rest of the pack “30 Jahre Edition” lettering, which is German for 30 years, can be found on the doorsills and headrests. The lettering is also found on the signet on the interior trim strip on the passenger side dashboard area alongside the number “1/300” indicates the limited series status.
Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed by BMW though the current M4 Convertible fitted with the Competition Package is listed at $165,900 plus on-road costs, expect a significant premium to get into the Edition 30.
