BMW Australia has announced a price reduction for the flagship 2018 BMW M4 CS which will now be available for new and existing orders from $189,900 plus on-road costs.
The new price represents a $21,710 reduction from BMW’s announcement in July that the M4 CS would have a list price of $211,610 plus on-road costs. A silly premium of $71,710 over the standard M4. Obviously, demand for the M hero car was overestimated.
All M4 CS specifications remain the same despite the change. Power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol capable of 338kW/600Nm.
The M4 CS sits above the M4 Pure ($139,900 plus on-road costs) and M4 Competition ($156,710 plus on-road costs). Both utilise a 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine developing 331kW/550Nm.
The new pricing applies to vehicles which have been pre-ordered. BMW Group Australia CEO, Marc Werner, said, “We have been working hard behind the scenes to deliver strong pricing for our M vehicles.”
“By introducing the M4 Pure local editions, we have made this core M car more accessible than ever.
“In addition, internal and customer feedback has allowed us to re-examine the flagship M4 CS pricing. The result is a new price point of $189,900 and is available to customers who have pre-ordered a CS, as well as those planning to purchase in the future.
“This new M pricing structure is a sensational early Christmas present for BMW M customers,” Werner said.
The M4 CS only packs 7kW and 50Nm more than the M4 Pure which is still a staggering $50,000 less. If you want a fast and agile Bavarian coupe, the smart money still leads to the base model M4.
