March has been announced as the time when the new 2018 BMW X2 will be available.

BMW claims the new X2 is targeted at young and young-at-heart drivers from the concrete jungles who like to get out and about in a fully connected with the digital world car, another car to fill a gap they have imagined.

This X2 aims for a sporty yet rugged appearance with ‘squared-off’ wheel arches, prominent tailpipes, emphasized side skirts and a roofline that enhances the lines of the car and slim window graphic.

Other design highlights for the X2 include LED daytime driving lights, upturned trapezoidal kidney grille, large air intakes, BMW roundel on the C-pillar and 17-inch light-alloy wheels.

Exterior colours known as Galvanic Gold metallic and Misano Blue metallic will be available for the first time on a BMW.

From launch three engine variants will be available. These include the BMW X2 xDrive20i petrol model with 141kW of power and 280Nm of torque, the X2 xDrive20d diesel variant boasting 140kW/400Nm and finally the X2 xDrive25d diesel which has the biggest outputs with 170kW/450Nm on tap.

The diesel options have, as standard, the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The petrol variant is matched with a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch transmission.

Other model variants are due to join the line up in the form of the three-cylinder X2 sDrive18i and the four-cylinder X2 xDrive20i, X2 sDrive18d and X2 xDrive18d.

Apart from the standard BMW X2, BMW X2 M Sport and BMW X2 Sport X models are also available. The latter two come with Micro Hexagon fabric Anthracite/Alcantara combination trim with contrast stitching on the instrument panel and centre console.

BMW Connected and BMW ConnectedDrive Services are on the options list as well as BMW Head-Up Display.

Optional Driving Assistant Plus and Parking Assistant systems are also available which bring technology such as Traffic Jam Assistant and other camera-based driver assistance systems.
