The new 2018 Honda CR-V range has officially gone on sale in Australia. The popular midsize SUV is now turbo powered and has the option of seven seats.
Prices are up slightly, however, Honda Australia claims $2600 and $4350 in additional value depending on the model.
The new CR-V is offered in four model grades, using familiar Honda designations, VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L and VTi-LX.
All 2018 CR-Vs will be powered by Honda’s new 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged petrol engine which will be paired to a CVT (continuously-variable transmission) automatic. Power is sent to the front or all four wheel depending on the model.
All models are well equipped, the base model VTi comes standard with keyless entry and start, dual-zone climate control, 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, front fog lights and 17-inch alloys.
Stepping up to the VTi-S adds satellite navigation, powered tailgate, the excellent LaneWatch camera and the option of all-wheel drive.
Buyers chasing the flexibility of seven seats will need to investigate the VTi-L, it’s the only model in the range to get the extra two pews. It also gets leather trim and a panoramic sunroof. It’s worth noting, the VTi-L is a front-drive only variant.
The range-topping VTi-LX will feature Honda’s Real-Time All-Wheel Drive system, LED headlights with active cornering, privacy glass and digital radio.
In a very disappointing move, buyers will need to stretch to the VTi-LX to obtain the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist technologies. Honda has also done this with the new Civic.
All 2018 CR-Vs are covered by Honda's newly introduced five year warranty.
