Specifications and pricing have been announced for an expanded 2018 Hyundai i30 line-up, the new model year sees the addition of petrol options for Elite and Premium variants along with the wider availability of the brand’s active safety technology.
The new powertrain option for the Elite and Premium models is a 120kW/203Nm 2.0-litre GDi petrol engine which will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 1.6 CRDi and 1.6 T-GDi engines are also carried over and are mated to either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DCT transmission.
Pumping the beats in the SR Premium and Premium models will be a new 7-speaker Infinity premium audio system while the Premium also gains LED tail-lights.
Active variants will now get a leather-appointed steering wheel and gear knob as standard.
In a common sense move, buyers of the Go and Active can option the Smart Sense Pack for an additional $1750 which adds the company’s latest active safety tech.
The Smart Sense Pack is only available on automatic models and includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring with lane change assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention alert, rear cross traffic alert, smart cruise control with stop & go function, electronic parking brake, 4.2-inch TFT colour driver’s display, rear cooling/heating vents, power folding exterior mirrors with LED side repeaters and a chrome front grille.
