Australian specifications and pricing have been confirmed for the 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake (that’s a wagon to us Strayans), which is due to officially launch in November.
As previously reported, local pricing will start at $90,400 (plus on-roads) for the R-Sport variant powered by 132kW/430Nm Ingenium diesel engine.
Interestingly, unlike the XF sedan and F-PACE model lines, there’s no Prestige trim level. As a consequence of this, the Sportbrake’s entry price is approximately 15k higher than the sedan.
The R-Sport also has the option of a 184kW/365Nm Ingenium petrol engine. Across Jaguar’s Australian models, the R-Sport trim is generally the value bet. In the XF Sportbrake, R-Sport versions get a differentiated front bumper, tailgate spoiler, powered tailgate, xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, 19-inch alloys, 10-way electric front seats trimmed in a leather/fabric combination and a lovely R-Sport steering wheel.
Other notable features include the InControl infotainment system with an 8.0-inch screen, satellite navigation, dual-zone climate, push-button start, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, park assist and a rear-view camera.
The XF Sportbrake S 30d and S First Edition 30d share a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine capable of 221kW/700Nm.
The S 30d gains a gesture tailgate with sunblind, keyless entry, 360° surround camera, head-up display, panoramic roof, cabin-air-ionisation, 18-way front sports seats, heated rear seats with 60/40 split and rear self-levelling air suspension.
As with all Jaguar models, there’s a variety of option packs and an options list long enough to have Leo Tolstoy blushing with embarrassment.
All XF Sportbrake models coming to Australia will feature the brilliant ZF 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
The XF Sportbrake is going to be a family car for keen drivers, the Sportbrake will have a near-perfect 50:50 weight balance to deliver a chassis tune that feels taut, agile and responsive. We can’t wait to drive it.
