FCA has confirmed local specifications and pricing for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, an SUV that makes no sense at all.
Priced at $134,900 plus on-roads the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is all about power. Under the bonnet sits a supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8 engine that delivers a massive 522kW and 868Nm of torque. This is the same engine that provides the hillbilly horsepower to propel the Challenger and Charger Hellcat.
If you're into barroom bragging, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk takes only 3.7 seconds to go from 0-100 km/h and has a top speed of 289 km/h.
Speaking of bars, the Trackhawk likes a drink, the claimed consumption figure on a combined run comes in at 16.8L/100km.
The Trackhawk’s power level means its outputs are strong when measured across all categories. On paper, only the Ferrari 812 Superfast (588kW) and Lamborghini Aventador S (544kW) boast more power.
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is differentiated from the rest of the range by body-coloured wheel flares, side sill cladding and a sculpted bonnet with dual heat extractors. There’s also a “Supercharged” badge on both front doors and a Trackhawk badge on the liftgate.
The interior of the Trackhawk gets a flat-bottom steering wheel, Nappa leather and suede seats with embroidered logos. The Trackhawk’s seats are also heated (front and rear) and ventilated (front).
While the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is unique in the context of the market and performance SUVs, the outlay is hard to justify when you consider the image problem Jeep is currently dealing with in Australia. It’s definitely one for the brave.
