Australian specifications and pricing have been revealed for the 2018 Maserati Quattroporte range, the Italian limousine has received performance and technology upgrades with an opening price of $209,990 before on-road costs.

Now powering the Quattroporte S version is a new Ferrari-made 3.0-litre twin turbo V6 engine developing 321kW of power and 580Nm of torque.

The base Quattroporte uses the same engine tuned to deliver 257kW/500Nm, while the Quattroporte GTS retains its 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine capable of 390kW/650Nm.

Found under the Quattroporte diesel’s bonnet is the familiar 3.0-litre V6 engine with outputs of 202kW/600Nm. All engines are mated with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

External improvements include new Adaptive LED headlights and the GranSport version gains a standard gloss black grille. Soft Close doors will also be fitted to the 2018 Quattroporte range.

The 2018 Quattroporte will have its hydraulic system replaced by Electric Power Steering (EPS) aimed at improving the car’s handling and comfort whilst enabling the use of the newly introduced Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Speaking of the ADAS, an expanded package is now an option for the new Quattroporte. Adding to the existing ADAS technology, active functions including Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition have also been included in the package. Adding to this a Surround View Camera joins the existing reversing camera.

Also new for the 2018 Quattroporte is Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) which uses the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) software to prevent losing control of the vehicle. IVC is smoother and quieter than the ESP allowing for better vehicle balance and traction.

Found inside is an Apple CarPlay and Android auto capable infotainment system displayed on an 8.4-inch touch screen.

Like the updated Ghibli and Levante, two unique trim options in the GranLusso and GranSport are available.

The GranLusso and GranSport offer a choice of drivetrains from the Twin Turbo V6 in both tune states and the Twin Turbo V8 engine.

In the GranLusso trim a higher level of luxury is the goal which brings exclusive materials and special features such as a new front lower fascia design with a floating bridge element and a delicate spoiler, chrome bumper finish, body colour bumper profiles, side skirts and at the rear, sculptured retroreflector and a body coloured spoiler.
