Upgrades and pricing have been announced for the 2018 Mazda CX-9 range. Some new technology and a new exterior colour will be available, however, it will come at a cost, prices have risen by $1400 across the range.
G-Vectoring Control (GVC) which improves dynamics by adjusting engine torque in response to steering input is now standard on all models. Mazda claims G-Vectoring Control “delivers unified control of lateral and longitudinal acceleration (G) forces, enhancing the vertical load on each wheel.”
Mazda also claims to have increased passenger comfort by improving noise, vibration and harshness levels by incorporating additional noise-insulating material to the back of the boot side trim and increasing the thickness of the noise-absorbing material on the underside of the headliner.
Magical higher density fiber in floor mats is said to better absorb noise.
For 2018 Mazda have included an upgraded version of the CX-9’s autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, it now includes pedestrian detection and operation of speeds between 4 and 80km/h (previously 4-30km/h). The high spec GT and Azami models will now feature traffic sign recognition.
There have been some interior changes to improve access to the third row. The second row seats have been revised with the seat now leaning 33 degrees when the seat is slid forward, this increases the space between each second row seat and the rear wheel housing from 60mm to approximately 200mm.
Models that feature electrically-adjustable front seats will enjoy a new tilt function for the driver’s seat which adjusts the height of the cushion’s front edge.
All CX-9 variants will now come standard with auto-power folding mirrors.
Soul Red Crystal paint is now available on the CX-9, this is a new Mazda colour that launched on the new CX-5 SUV earlier this year.
