The 2018 Mitsubishi ASX will now come with advanced safety features, new infotainment system and an updated design.
Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning and automatic high beam features will now be found on a new mid-level LS ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assist Systems) model as well as the range topping XLS as standard. It’s disappointing this safety tech isn’t available to be optioned across the range.
Technology features also get an upgrade for all 2018 models which includes the latest smartphone connectivity technology via Mitsubishi’s Smartphone link Display Audio (SDA) and DAB radio. There is also the addition of two USB ports and a padded removable phone tray in the centre console.
In terms of a new look, the Dynamic Shield front end will see LED daytime running lamps and lower bezel fog lamps integrated into the revised design. The back end of the car also gets a new bumper and tailgate design.
Rounding out the upgrades is a new geometric designed silver finish for the floor console panel, soft knee rests, new armrest with a larger console box, new design automatic transmission shift lever and new acoustic absorption materials introduced throughout the body to improve noise, vibration and harshness levels.
There are two engine options, power comes from either a 2.0-litre 110kW/197Nm petrol model or a 2.2-litre 110kW/360Nm turbo-diesel unit. The petrol engine is a front-wheel drive only proposition and can be paired with a five-speed manual or CVT (continuously-variable transmission) automatic. The diesel power plant is exclusively all-wheel drive and is mated to a traditional torque-converter automatic.
