As Australia’s thirst for the family SUV sees no end in sight the 2018 Peugeot 3008 has hit the marketplace.

The star attraction to set the 3008 apart from its rivals is the inclusion of Peugeot i-Cockpit technology, a staple across all models, as well as the laundry list of safety and technology features.

As part of the Peugeot i-Cockpit tech, every model will feature a multi-function steering wheel, 12.3-inch digital instrument display panel and an 8.0-inch central touchscreen.

The range will open with the Active variant. It’s a well-featured entry level model, standard kit includes automatic dual-zone climate control, rear vents, driver attention alert system, lane departure warning, ISOFIX points, programmable cruise control with speed limiter and speed limit recognition.

Moving to the Allure adds keyless entry and start, rear privacy glass, folding mirrors and 360-degree cameras.

Stepping into the GT-Line model bring more safety tech including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active blind-spot detection, active lane-keep assist and intelligent high-beam assistance known as Peugeot Smart Beam.

The range topping GT brings some premium touches, such as leather seat trim and Alcantara covered dash and front/rear door panels. The Driver and front passenger will enjoy improved comfort with heated memory seats, multi-point massage function and adjustable ‘nose’ cushions.

The Peugeot 3008 will offer the choice of petrol or diesel engines, a 1.6-litre THP 165 petrol version and a 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 diesel. Both are mated to the EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission.

The petrol engine offers 121kW at 6000rpm and 240Nm at 1400rpm while the diesel comes in at 133kW/400Nm at 3750rpm and 2000 rpm respectively.

The new Peugeot 3008 will be produced in the Sochaux plant in France with engines from the Trémery and Douvrin factories.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV will launch with an entry level price of $39,990 drive away to entice customers into showrooms.
