Pricing has been released for the 2018 Range Rover line-up. Opening the range is the Vogue TDV6 which is priced at $190,000 plus on-road costs. There is a significant pricing spread with the supercharged V8 SVAutobiography requiring buyers to part with $398,900 (plus on-roads).
The big news is the addition of a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model to complement the V6 and V8 petrol and diesel offerings.
New styling, comfort and technology features bring the MY18 Range Rover into line with the updated Sport and new Velar.
There are subtle exterior design changes including an updated grille that incorporates a Gloss Black surround and Atlas mesh (varies by model), a new front bumper with widened vent blades and the clamshell bonnet is longer.
At the back end, the new rear bumper integrates the exhaust tailpipes across all Range Rover powertrains.
In addition, six new alloy wheel designs are available alongside two new metallic paint colours; Rossello Red and Byron Blue.
As with the Sport, a multitude of LED headlight choices are available including the premium Pixel-Laser option that consists of 144 LED bulbs that can project light more than 500 metres ahead.
Kicking off the comfort enhancements, the front seats have undergone a makeover receiving new frames to support the wider deeper foams, heated armrests and 24-way movement.
The rear seats have also been redesigned. This means passengers can make the most of the 186mm of additional legroom with the 25 massage programmes, 40-degree recline as well as heated and cooled foot, calf and armrests, all of which can be controlled via a smartphone app from inside or outside the vehicle.
Technology upgrades begin with 17 connection points including domestic plug sockets, USB, HDMI and 12-volt outlets. There’s also a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot available for up to eight devices.
The 2018 Range Rover also benefits from the inclusion of the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system which debuted in the Velar. It features two HD 10-inch touchscreen displays which work together harmoniously. Other key technology inclusions for comfort and convenience are gesture controlled sunblind, air ionisation and an activity key.
The P400e option first seen in the Sport will be available for the MY18 Range Rover. This is Jaguar Land Rover's first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Power comes from the Si4 221kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with an 85kW electric motor. The system delivers a combined output of 297kW and 640Nm. This option replaces the outgoing diesel-electric hybrid offering.
The 13.1kWh battery pack can allow an all-electric range of up to 51km. Remarkably, the claimed combined fuel consumption is rated at 2.8L/100km.
When it comes to charging, Jaguar Land Rover claims a full charge can be achieved in as little as 2 hours 45 minutes at home using a dedicated 32 amp wall box. The battery can be fully charged in 7 hours 30 minutes using the 10 amp home charging cable supplied as standard.
For those with money to burn, the flagship model SVAutobiography long-wheelbase variant will be available. This model will retain Range Rover’s renowned level of luxury with a focus on performance. Under the SVAutobiography clamshell hood sits a 416kW/700Nm 5.0-litre supercharged V8 that can accelerate the car from 0-100 in 5.4 seconds.
Other engine options include two diesels, the 3.0-litre 190kW/600Nm TDV6 and the 4.4-litre 250kW/740Nm SDV8.
On the petrol front, there’s a 3.0-litre 280kW/450Nm supercharged V6 and a standard version of the 5.0-litre supercharged V8, which develops 386kW of power and 625Nm of torque.
Australian deliveries are due to commence in March 2018.
