On the eve of the arrival of the first customer deliveries of the new generation XV all-wheel drive SUV, Subaru has surprised everyone by announcing a reduction in the entry-level pricing as well as adding more to the offering.
The new 2018 Subaru XV is designed to appeal to a younger, more female demographic which accounts for the strong increase in bang for buck.
The new XV’s ride height comes in at 220 millimetres giving it even more rough road capability. This will be complimented by X-Mode which controls the engine, AWD, braking and other functions to enhance the driving experience.
Safety and technology are big drawcards for the XV with the inclusion of EyeSight Driver Assist, which now features Lane Keep Assist, on the mid and rang-topping variants.
The range-topping 2.0i-S also includes Reverse Automatic Braking and High Beam Assist additions. The new XV is yet to be independently tested by ANCAP though.
The XV will feature a new 2.0-litre direct injection naturally aspirated Boxer engine, delivering 115kW of power and 196Nm of torque, matched with the Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) for increased efficiency and performance.
The cherry on the top for XV owners will be the Capped Price Service program offered by Subaru which sets service intervals at 12,500km/12-month. This should ultimately drop the cost of ownership over the first three years.
