After almost a decade, the new third-generation 2019 BMW Z4 is undergoing the final stages of development before entering production.
The images don’t really give much away and an official unveiling date is yet to be set. It's not the only new BMW model nearing production, the 8 Series coupe is also nearly ready.
Underneath the sheet metal, the new Z4 will be closely related to the upcoming Toyota Supra.
At present, BMW engineers are focusing on fine-tuning of all Z4’s drive and suspension systems.
Although details are very light on, the new Z4 in M40i guise will be powered by a new in-line six-cylinder engine and feature lowered sports suspension with electronically controlled dampers, a new front axle, M Sport brake system, an electronically controlled rear axle differential lock and M light alloy wheels wearing mixed tyres.
"The vehicle concept of the new BMW Z4 is geared consistently towards agility and driving dynamics," said Jos van As, BMW Head of Application Suspension.
"The high level of body stiffness and the very rigid suspension attachment provide the perfect basis for a set-up that guarantees the performance qualities of a genuine sports car in terms of steering precision as well as longitudinal and transverse acceleration."
