Initial details for the 2019 Ford Focus range have been released this week ahead of the scheduled launch in November.
At launch, three model grades will be available – Trend, ST-Line and Titanium – across hatch and wagon body styles. Incidentally, this is the first time Ford has offered the Focus wagon to Australian buyers.
Initially, all Focus variants will be powered by a 1.5-litre EcoBoost three-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of 134kW and 240Nm. It will be mated to an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. There is no word on whether or not a manual will be available locally.
The entry-level Trend hatch will offer 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, automatic headlights, electrochromatic rear-vision mirror, automatic wipers, electronic park brake, climate control and Sync 3 infotainment with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Stepping up to the ST-Line (formerly the Focus Sport) adds a unique honeycomb grille, sides skirts and rear bumper, chrome finished tail-pipes, sports suspension, flat-bottom steering wheel with red stitching, metallic pedals, wireless smartphone charging and dual-zone climate control.
The ST-Line is available as a five-door hatch or wagon. The hatch features an integrated boot-lid spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels whilst the wagon body style adds a cargo blind and roof rails.
At the pointy end of the offerings is the Focus Titanium which is distinguished by a unique front grille and body styling with 18-inch alloy wheels. There is also the new LED Lighting Package which includes DRLs, automatic daytime levelling, automatic high-beam control, a sequential turn-signal progression for the LED indicators and static bending lights.
Autonomous emergency braking with night-time pedestrian detection, cyclist detection and lane keep assist is standard across the range, however, Titanium models also get blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise with stop & go.
Full specifications and pricing will be announced prior to the Australian launch in November. Watch this space!
