Lexus has announced the addition of the LX570 S, a new variant that will act as the brand’s new luxury off-road flagship.
Priced from $168,089 plus on-road costs, the LX570 S brings a new look and improved handling.
Externally, Lexus has aimed for a more aggressive style with tweaked front and rear bumpers, sport mesh pattern on the spindle grille and 21-inch gloss black forged alloy wheels.
There’s also a new front performance damper which Lexus claims improves body rigidity and steering stability.
Two exterior colours – Sonic Quartz and Starlight Black – will also be offered on the new LX570 S.
Internal features include the new luxury semi-aniline perforated leather trim which is available in Black or Garnet (a rich burgundy hue exclusive to the LX570 S). A unique touch for the LX570 S is the Shimamoku Grey ornamentation.
Other touches that complement and enhance the sporty design aesthetic include alloy pedals, courtesy lamps which project ‘LX S’ and LX570 S badging on the rear.
Lexus Australia chief executive Scott Thompson said: "The striking features of the new LX570 S, from its unique exterior styling to the dynamic upgrades, symbolise the evolution of the LX model and will further expand its popularity among consumers.”
As with the rest of the LX range the technology, safety and luxury features are abundant.
Safety kit includes the Lexus Safety System + system which brings a pre-collision safety system with pedestrian detection, radar active cruise control, lane departure warning, adaptive high-beam system, head-up display, blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
There is also a reversing camera with an almost 180-degree field of view, 10 airbags, four-camera multi-terrain monitor and panoramic view monitor.
The LX570 S will be equipped with a 12.3-inch high-definition screen, satellite navigation, and four-zone climate control air conditioning, heated steering wheel, and ventilation and heating for the front and outboard second-row seats.
Powering the new variant will be a 5.7-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine developing 270kW and 530Nm matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The LX570 S comes with a 3500kg braked towing capacity and can carry 138 litres of fuel with 93-litre main and 45-litre sub tanks.
The 2019 Lexus LX570 S is priced from $168,089 plus on-road costs which represents a $6500 premium over the LX570 with the Enhancement Pack on which it is based on.
