The new kid on the block, the 2019 Lexus UX, is set to arrive in Australia before the end of the year.
Deriving its name from its purpose, Urban (U) Crossover (X), the new Lexus UX will feature luxury and safety wrapped in new designs with new petrol and hybrid powertrains.
Chika Kako, executive vice president of Lexus International and chief engineer of the UX, commented: "We designed the UX to appeal to young buyers who seek not only what is new and exciting, but what is also relevant to their lifestyles.”
A front-wheel-drive UX200 will be available which utilizes a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine capable of 126kW of power and 205Nm of torque. It will be mated with a new direct shift continuously variable transmission (CVT).
For more power, the UX250h offers the combination of the 2.0-litre petrol engine with a new hybrid system which is capable of a combined output of 131kW. The 250h will be available with either a front-wheel-drive or E Four all-wheel drive set up.
The UX will be built on the new GA-C platform which is related to the Toyota New Global Architecture, however, Lexus tells us a number of elements are engineered specifically for Lexus applications. It should provide better handling, agility and ride comfort.
No word has been spoken of Australian pricing yet but with the Lexus UX set to touch down in the near future, an announcement may be imminent.
