Specifications and pricing have been confirmed for the 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI, the legendary performance hatch will arrive in October priced from $45,490 plus on-road costs.
The biggest change for 2019 is the Performance spec is now standard meaning the 169kW engine tune will be replaced with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol producing 180kW and 370Nm.
Also included is an electro-mechanical front differential lock and a larger brake package from the Golf R.
As with the updated Golf R, all GTI variants will exclusively use VW’s seven-speed wet-clutch DSG. Enthusiasts who still fancy three pedals will need to open their wallet while stock remains of the current model.
It’s also worth noting, the 2019 Golf GTI will launch with five doors.
On the inside, the GTI now gets the 12.3-inch Active Info Display as standard. The safety tech from the former Driver Assistance Package is also included which adds adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, park assist and lane assist.
A Sound & Style Pack and a Luxury Pack (detailed below) are available as options.
The 2019 Golf GTI is due to arrive in showrooms in October, however, the order books are open now.
