Mitsubishi Motors Australia has partnered with the City of Adelaide and Government of South Australia to open a new fast direct current Electric Vehicle Charging Hub in Adelaide.

Based in Adelaide’s Central Market Precinct, the new facility offers an initial eight fast-charging stations with 11 more due to be added in the area by the end of October.

It is claimed, these direct current (DC) charging stations can charge a vehicle up to six times faster than domestic charging setups. For comparison, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is touted as being able to charge to 80% full in 30 minutes using the DC charging station.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s CEO, John Signoriello, said: “Mitsubishi has provided a fast charger at no-cost to the State as part of our commitment to supporting a public charging network for all electric vehicle users, we believe electric vehicle technology should be made available to the wider community, not just for luxury car owners.”

Mr, Signoriello stated that the fast charger was compatible with a range of electric vehicles, not just Mitsubishi models.

The Adelaide Central Market DC charging station is only one of the growing EV charging network with plans for a further 25 EV charging stations promised to be built in Adelaide’s CBD by mid-2018.
