Toyota Australia has announced that the incoming 2018 Camry will be an all-new premium model, redrawn to feature dynamic design and impressive performance.

Built on a new platform, Toyota claims the new Camry will feature modern styling, sporty handling and agility, comfortable ride and advanced safety technology.

Speaking of safety, the new Camry will include Toyota’s advanced safety suite as standard. This means Camry drivers will get a pre-collision system with autonomous emergency braking, all-speed active cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beam, a reversing camera and seven airbags, with some variants also featuring blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert for increased peace of mind.

Other safety considerations can be found in the redesigned driving position, lower beltline, redesigned instrument panel and thinner windscreen pillars on the inside of the vehicle. These not only provide a safer driving experience but added comfort for the occupants too.

Interior improvements don’t stop there though; the Toyota Camry also offers a sporty cockpit for the driver, electronic parking brake, colour heads-up display, 8-incch touchscreen audio display, 7-inch multi-information instrument cluster display, premium soft-touch surface materials in a range of tones and hues as well as re-engineered seats with detailed stitching. Additional sound absorbing and insulating materials will also reduce external noise in the cabin providing a quieter, more comfortable ride.

From the outside, the 2018 Toyota Camry will convey a new dynamic design. This is achieved through a slim upper grille, LED headlights, DRLs and LED tail lights. The sporty version also includes large side intakes while the mesh grille is finished in gloss black.

17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels are also fitted depending on grade, while the sporty variants also feature a body kit.

Under the bonnet, two new powertrains are offered in addition to a four-cylinder petrol engine with a revised six-speed automatic transmission.

The first is a hybrid system featuring an all-new 2.5-litre four-cylinder D-4S direct injection petrol engine outputting 155kW maximum power.

There is also a new 3.5-litre V6 engine with D-4S direct injection, outputting 222kW of power and 356Nm of torque, matched with a new eight-speed direct-shift automatic transmission.

With local manufacturing coming to an end, the new Camry will be imported from Japan.

November has been earmarked for the launch of the all-new eighth-generation Camry.
