Lexus has reported sales growth in January 2018 was strong, in large part due to the increased demand for its SUV line-up.
A tally of 609 new Lexus vehicles delivered to new owners represents 14 per cent growth from December 2017 and a 7.6 per cent increase over January sales in 2017.
At the top of the new car sales food chain was the Lexus NX range coming in at a January record of 288 sales which is a 67.4 per cent gain compared to sales in January 2017. This was also the highest monthly total of new NX models since their June 2017 release.
All up the SUVs have been strong sellers with the NX, RX and LX models setting a record for January with 431 deliveries. This is a significant 31.4 per cent improvement over January 2017 proving Australian’s desire for SUVs is even greater at the premium end of the market.
Lexus passenger cars also saw double-digit growth when compared to December. The CT200h hatch, RC and LC coupes enjoyed an 11.9 per cent increase in sales.
Lexus Australia's chief executive Scott Thompson said, "We expect Lexus sales in 2018 to benefit from improved supply, continued strong interest particularly in our SUV line-up and new-model activity including the upcoming RX L seven-seat models and the flagship LS sedan."
