With a 50 percent jump in sales so far this year, largely due to the Levante SUV, Maserati have decided to add the Levante S to the Australian line-up in the second half of the year.

The Levante S will feature the latest direct-inject Twin Turbo V6 engine built by Ferrari, and currently found in the Ghibli sedan, capable of producing 316kW of power and 580Nm. The petrol powerplant will offer more speed than the turbo diesel version.

Chief Operating Officer of Maserati Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, Glen Sealey said, “It is the vigor, the brio and, of course, the sound with which the performance is delivered that sets the Levante S apart from both its Turbo Diesel sibling and the Levante’s rivals. In short, the Levante S delivers even more of the unique Maserati experience that has made Maserati a byword for performance, along with style and exclusivity in the automotive world.”

The Levante S will not only feature a more powerful engine, it will come with larger brakes and wheels.

“Although the Levante S will share the same trim and equipment has the existing Turbo Diesel Levante, its engine bestows on the Levante a different character and a substantially higher level of performance,” says Mr Sealey. “We believe, therefore it will attract a different kind of customer. It will complement the turbo diesel as an additional version and will arrive with a substantially different price point to reflect this.”

Full specifications and pricing is yet to be released for the 2018 Maserati Levante S, but are expected in the coming months.
