Mazda Australia has finally conceded and will offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring technology across its full range of models.

The news will be welcomed by tech fans, however, there is a catch. For the foreseeable future, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will only be available as a dealer-fit option. Mazda is yet to release pricing.

Pleasingly, current Mazda vehicles equipped with the MZD Connect infotainment system can have the technology retrofitted.

Even the all-new seven-seat CX-8 will require the dealer to add the tech, it’s not standard from the factory at this point. Mazda says this will be rectified on all future model launches and upgrades.

At present, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are only available as standard on the recently updated BT-50 ute.

While the move to offer smartphone mirroring is a good one, we will wait until Mazda confirms pricing before we get overexcited.
