Renault Australia has announced that entry-variants of the new Megane RS280 will now be available with a Cup Chassis option.

Initially, the Cup Chassis was only available on top-spec Trophy models. Andrew Moore, Managing Director Renault Australia, said: “Following the international launch of the all-new Megane R.S. we received strong feedback from media, customers and dealers that they would like to have the option of a Cup chassis on the entry model Megane RS 280. We have listened to this feedback and gone back to the factory to introduce a Cup chassis option.

“Renault Sport and in particular the Megane R.S. has a strong history in Australia. In fact, Australia was the third highest selling country in the world for the previous generation Megane R.S. behind France and Germany.

“We’re thrilled that the factory have supported us in responding to our customers and making this option available to our customers.”

The Cup Chassis option will only be available on manual cars at a cost of $1490. It offers a 10 per cent stiffer damper system and a new Torsen mechanical limited slip differential to deliver improved performance and handling.

There’s also Brembo brake calipers and bi-material aluminium and cast iron brake discs.

Entry versions of the RS280 will be powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbo engine developing 205kW and 390Nm.

The Megane RS280 will start at $45,000 plus on-road costs when it launches in Australia in the third quarter of 2018. Punters will need to wait until the fourth quarter of 2018 for the Cup Chassis Pack option to be available.
