Up for recall this week are vehicles from Holden, Fiat, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Jeep with issues ranging from airbag inflators to faulty welding and a myriad of problems in between.

Holden has added another round of vehicles to the faulty Takata airbag inflator recall list. This time owners of MY13 Trax, MY12-13 Barina and MY10-13 Cruise vehicles registered in Queensland, Northern Territory or Western Australia are urged to contact their local Holden dealership.

Replacement parts have been on backorder for a while now but when stock is available the faulty equipment will be replaced free of charge. Owners can check if their car is affected by looking up their VIN here.

Owners of MY15-18 Fiat 500X vehicles may need to book their car into the nearest Fiat dealer as they could potentially have a faulty rear seat latch that can unlatch itself and fold forward. This could potentially cause harm to passengers including children in child restraints using the ISOFIX anchor.

FCA will be contacting known owners of affected vehicles only when replacement parts are available which are expected to arrive at the end of September 2018. Concerned owners can check if their vehicle is affected here.

Ford is recalling certain EcoSport vehicles built between May 3rd, 2017 and June 10th, 2017 as they may have faulty welds on the front lower control arm which could cause the front wheel assembly to hit the wheelhouse as well as the fender. This may cause the front wheel to lock up and also affect steering control.

Ford is attempting to contact known owners of affected vehicles to have them take their vehicle to the nearest Ford dealership for an inspection and rectification if required. Affected VINs can also be found here.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class, GLA and CLA “White Art Edition” owners may need to contact their local Mercedes-Benz dealership as the centre top tether anchorage point of the rear seat bench may be missing. This will prevent a child restraint being fitted properly.

Concerned owners can contact their local Mercedes-Benz dealer or check their VIN here to see if their car is affected.

Finally, Jeep has a number of recalls active this week. Firstly, owners of 2018 (KL) Jeep Cherokees equipped with all-wheel-drive may be contacted by FCA, cars may have a fault with the halfshaft assembly which results in a loss of power or the inability to set the vehicle to park.

A broken halfshaft bearing cage may also result in a loss of power as well which could potentially cause injury as the vehicle can crash without warning. Affected VINs can be found here or known owners will be notified when replacement parts are available.

Jeep is also recalling 2017-2018 (JK) Jeep Wrangler, 2018 (KL) Jeep Cherokee, 2018 (M6) Jeep Compass and 2018 (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles due to potential powertrain control module failures which can cause a no-start, a start-and-immediate stall or engine stall whilst driving. These issues could result in a loss of power and the vehicle to crash.

FCA will be contacting known owners of affected vehicles as soon as replacement parts are available. Jeep owners can check the VIN list here.

Owners of 2018 (M6) Jeep Compass models may also be affected by a fault in the Power Control Module (PCM) software which can affect the cruise control and potentially lock the vehicle speed or unexpectedly accelerate.

Drivers can take evasive action by shifting the vehicle to neutral and applying the brakes but the issue does pose the risk of an accident. Customers will be contacted by mail and advised to schedule an appointment to have their vehicle inspected, and reprogrammed if necessary, at their local dealership. Affected vehicle VINs can be found here.
