In the first half of 2018 Swedish premium car maker Volvo has achieved a 26 per cent increase in sales cementing its place as one of Australia’s fastest growing luxury car brands.
Data released by VFACTS show 3,025 new Volvos found new homes by June 30 which represents a 26 per cent increase on the same period last year. June sales alone accounted for a 14.4 per cent jump in sales compared to June 2017.
Contributing strongly to the sales figures was the mid-sized XC60 SUV which launched last October and has since won a stack of awards including the 2018 World Car of the Year.
Nick Connor, Managing Director of Volvo Car Australia commented: "Our strong result in 2018 reflects the major investment Volvo has made in design and technology over the past five years."
"We are particularly pleased to have recorded strong sales for the award-winning XC60 during 2017-18. The luxury SUV segment is very competitive, and the XC60 is a standout in the mid-size category."
"The XC90 set the benchmark in the luxury seven-seater SUV segment, and the XC60 is continuing the trend in its category,” Mr Connor added.
Volvo is also now competing in the small SUV segment with the recent arrival of the XC40.
