Toyota Australia has confirmed the first allocation of the all-new Supra sold out within 22 minutes after the online sales portal opened yesterday.
Interestingly, the brand originally stated 100 examples of the new Supra would be available in the first drop, however, an additional 50 units were offered to local buyers. Remarkably, the first 100 cars sold out in seven minutes.
Customer demand was skewed towards the high-grade GTS which accounted for more than 80 per cent of the order bank.
Goodwood Grey, Monza Red, Fuji White and Nurburg Matte Grey, were the most popular colours with the first year’s allocation of the matte option now completely sold out.
Reservations were made through 63 dealers covering all states and territories in both metropolitan and rural areas.
Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing, Sean Hanley said Toyota was pleased with the response.
"We know through our own research that there was a high demand and excitement for GR Supra in the market. We did not expect that selling online would be an issue for us but were just amazed at how quickly the first one hundred reservations were made."
"We will work hard with our Supra concierge to make the experience for these customers something special, befitting this iconic sportscar", he said.
The successful customers will be contacted by Toyota's dedicated Supra concierge in the next couple of weeks to confirm their preferences and order, which will include a further $4000 deposit.
For those who missed out, the next reservation window will open on July 17th at 12:00 noon AEST. The exact number of reservations available in the second allocation is still to be confirmed.
