Australian specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, the seven-seat SUV will start with a price of $40,490 plus on-road costs.
Buyers will have the choice of petrol and diesel engines. The range opens with the Comfortline 110TSI which is powered by a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine producing 110kW and 250Nm. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed DSG.
Incidentally, the entry-level Comfortline grade is the only front-wheel drive variant in the range.
The next stop is the Comfortline 132TSI, it packs a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine developing 132kW and 320Nm, paired with a seven-speed DSG and 4Motion all-wheel drive.
A Comfortline 110TDI is available with 2.0-litre 110kW/340Nm turbo-diesel with a seven-speed DSG.
Moving up to the Allspace Highline grade, buyers can pick either a Golf GTI-derived 2.0-litre 162kW/350Nm turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.0-litre 140kW/400Nm turbo-diesel. Both variants get a seven-speed DSG and AWD.
Overall, the Tiguan Allspace is longer than the standard Tiguan, with an overall length of 4,701mm (+215mm), as well as an additional 106mm of rear overhang. It should be noted that despite the extra length, overhang and 109mm wheelbase growth, the Allspace is classified as a 5+2 rather than a genuine seven-seater.
With the third-row seats up, the Allspace offers 230 litres of cargo space.
