Ford Australia has announced autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection is now included as standard on the 2019 Everest range.

Along with AEB,  lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition and automatic high beam are now standard on the base model Ambiente. Previously, this tech was reserved for the higher grades.

All Ambiente variants and the Trend AWD will come standard with the familiar 3.2-litre 147kW/470Nm five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Trend RWD, Trend AWD and the range-topping Titanium are available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder bi-turbo-diesel engine capable of 157kW of power and 500Nm of torque - peak torque is available from 1750rpm. It’s paired with Ford’s new 10-speed torque-convertor automatic transmission. This combo was first seen in the Ranger Raptor.

Interestingly, the flagship Titanium has had a $1700 price cut, bringing the list price down to $72,290 plus on-road costs.

In terms of equipment highlights, Ambiente models get halogen projector headlamps and daytime running lights, folding exterior mirrors, a laminated acoustic windscreen, keyless entry with push-button start and Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment package with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moving to the Trend grade adds HID headlamps with auto levelling, LED daytime running lights, hands-free powered tailgate, leather accented seat trim (excludes the third row), eight-way power driver’s seat with manual lumbar and a leather-trimmed gear selector.

Trend variants also feature automatic wipers, rear privacy glass, adaptive cruise control and 18-inch alloys.

The Titanium adds 20-inch alloy wheels, a tow-bar (rated 3100kg), a leather-trimmed handbrake, sunroof, powered front seats with heating function, tyre pressure monitoring, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

The updated Ford Everest is available now.
