Updates to the 2019 Honda Civic sedan range have been announced this week, the big news is the greater availability of the Honda Sensing safety suite of driver-assist technologies.
Previously, the safety suite containing autonomous-emergency braking, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control was only available on the flagship VTi-LX, it’s now standard on the VTi-L and RS variants. Additionally, the suite has been bolstered to include automatic high-beam.
Electrically-folding rear-view mirrors have also been added to the VTi-L and RS.
There are new alloy wheel designs across the range and the front bumper has been redesigned with a new lower grille to emphasise a muscular stance, while a piano black upper grille is now fitted to all models apart from the VTi.
Rounding out the exterior changes is the addition of rear privacy glass on the VTi-S and two new colours, Platinum White and Phoenix Orange, the latter is exclusive to RS.
On the inside, there’s a new dashboard design featuring a geometrically embossed pattern, new seat trims on the VTi-S grade and above, red seat-trim stitching on the RS, a volume control knob, new hard keys for the core display screen functions and reworked climate controls.
VTi and VTI-S are powered by a 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 104kW and 174Nm, the rest on the line-up gets a 1.5-litre 127kW/220Nm turbocharged four-cylinder petrol. Regardless of the engine, a CVT sends power to the front wheels.
