The 2019 Hyundai Elantra range has been revealed sporting new styling, more standard equipment and new model variants.
Styling changes for the 2019 model year include a new front which incorporates redesigned headlights, restyled bonnet and the signature cascading grille as well as redesigned taillights, boot lid spoiler and lower diffusers at the rear.
Internally the Elantra gets a new dash with redesigned air conditioning vents, climate control dials, new 3.5-inch Supervision cluster, new steering wheel design as well as new trims and finishes.
Variants have been repositioned with the Elantra Go added as the entry-level model. Go models get a rear-view camera, cruise control, 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 15-inch steel wheels and automatic dusk-sensing headlights.
The Elantra Active has been upgraded adding features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen satellite navigation system paired with an eight-speaker Infinity premium audio system with DAB+ digital radio.
New wheel designs will also be available including 10-spoke covers for the 15-inch steel wheels on Elantra Go and a new 16-inch alloy wheel pattern for Elantra Active.
For the first time, the SmartSense safety pack will be offered on the 2019 Elantra as an option for the Go (automatic) and Active models. It includes forward collision-avoidance assist (FCA) – city/urban/interurban/pedestrian detection, blind-spot collision warning (BCW) and rear cross-traffic collision warning (RCCW), as well as lane keeping assist (LKA) system, driver attention warning (DAW) and smart cruise control (SCC).
The Elantra Go and Active models will be powered by a 2.0-litre MPi petrol engine offering 112kW/192Nm mated with a six-speed automatic. Go variants are also available with a six-speed manual transmission.
It’s not all about the base models though, at the pointy end of the range two turbocharged Sport versions, Elantra Sport and Sport Premium, replace the Elantra SR variant.
Both the Sport and Sport Premium feature a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 150kW of power and 265Nm of torque mated with either a six-speed manual as standard or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
