Specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2019 Kia Cerato GT which will be available in both the sedan and hatch body styles priced from $31,990 drive-away.
Powering Cerato GT variants is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine outputting 150kW at 6000rpm and 265Nm from 1500-4500rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed DCT.
The GT gets a body kit, dual exhaust tips, paddle shifters, alloy sports pedals and a flat-bottomed leather sports steering wheel as standard.
Overall, in GT guise, the hatch is longer (plus 160mm), wider (plus 20mm) and 10mm lower, though it retains the same wheelbase (2700mm) with 20mm more overhang at the front and 140mm at the rear. This increase in proportions adds 84 litres taking the luggage capacity to 741 litres.
Clear White paint colour is standard on the GT with Snow White Pearl, Silky Silver, Steel Grey, Platinum Graphite, Horizon Blue, Gravity Blue, Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red and the Sunset Orange (exclusive to GT) also available with premium paint costing an extra $520.
The Cerato GT will offer a range of safety kit as standard that includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, rear-view camera, driver attention alert, as well as front and rear parking sensors. This has helped earn the GT a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
Other standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40Z R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, 205mm ventilated front discs, 262mm solid rear discs, Drive Mode Select, tyre pressure monitor and a speed limiter.
Inside, the cabin is well kitted out with an 8-way power adjustment for the driver's seat with two memory positions, smart cruise control, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, eight-speaker JBL Premium sound system, climate control air-conditioning and ventilated front sport seats.
