Like its Cerato GT stablemate, the 2019 Kia Picanto GT will be offering a more athletic vibe as it joins the Australian line-up.
Featuring a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that’s good for 74kW/172Nm channelled through the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox, the Picanto GT is chasing keen drivers.
The economy is still strong, fuel consumption on the combined cycle is rated at 4.8L/100km.
The Picanto GT’s ride has been calibrated locally and gets a firmer suspension tune with a stiffer spring rate. The steering mapping was also tweaked to deliver a quicker response and enhanced stability under load.
Additionally, a lower profile 195/45 R16 tyre wraps the 16-inch alloys for improved grip.
The Picanto GT also benefits from the ultra-stiff body shell, composed of 44 per cent advanced high-strength steel as found in the rest of the Picanto range.
An extensive list of safety kit includes autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, six airbags, hill assist control, vehicle stability control and torque vectoring.
Internally, the Picanto GT gets Bluetooth, a four-speaker audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, air-conditioning, driver seat height adjustment and front power windows.
Differentiating the Picanto GT from the rest of the Picanto herd is contrast body accents, twin exhaust, a body kit and GT badging.
The Picanto GT will be available in Clear White with premium colours Titanium Silver, Aurora Black and Signal Red also available.
The 2019 Kia Picanto GT will be available with drive away pricing of $17,990 which is only $500 more than the GT-Line.
