The 2019 Maserati Ghibli has been revealed, the updates are subtle and include new interior trim choices, exterior paint colours, new headlights and a redesigned gearshift lever.

The three current trim levels – baseline, GranLusso and GranSport – are carried over and distinguished with subtle styling choices each emphasising a different aspect of the Ghibli.

Now standard on the Ghibli GranLusso and Ghibli GranSport is adaptive full LED matrix headlights, which were developed in collaboration with Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting, they are said to offer 20 per cent better visibility and 32 per cent cooler light.

The adaptive LED matrix headlights project light 55 metres further down the road when compared to the Bi-Xenon lights they replace. They also incorporate a front camera for the matrix-adaptive high beam function which prevents dazzling oncoming drivers whilst allowing the high beam to remain on.

Two brand new tri-coat exterior paint colours, Rosso Potente and Blu Nobile, will join the palette options taking the exterior paint count to eleven.

There are six different alloy wheel designs ranging in size from 19- to 21-inches, with the 20-inch Teseo wheel design added for the 2019 model year.

Also added for the MY19 Ghibli is the Nerissimo pack which adds an extended range of eight exterior colours, five of which are new, and 20- or 21-inch alloy wheels with a dark finish.

Internally, updates include improved graphics on the 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, better climate control functionality, a redesigned gearshift lever and revised button cluster for the driving modes.

A new Pieno Fiore natural leather is available in black, red and tan colour for both the comfort and sports seats with each receiving their own stitching pattern. This is in addition to the two new high-gloss interior veneers, Carbon Fibre Twill and Rovere Veneer.

Powering the 2019 Ghibli is the standard 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine which produces 257kW/500Nm, while the Ghibli S does get a slight power boost, the V6 in the S develops 321kW/580Nm. A 3.0-litre V6 Turbodiesel unit with outputs of 202kW/600Nm is also carried over.

All versions of the Ghibli are equipped with the same eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, which is also used on the Quattroporte and Levante models. The redesigned gearshift lever uses a dual lane shift pattern translating to a shorter travel and improved operation. A new ‘P’ button has been added to the top of the lever to set the transmission in parking mode.

Also revealed were the 2019 Maserati Levante and Maserati Quattroporte, though local specifications and pricing are expected early next year.
