Specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A180 ahead of its arrival in February, it lowers the cost of entry to the A-Class range to $42,300 plus on-road costs.
The A180 hatch will feature the new MBUX multimedia system as standard. It uses two 10.25-inch screens and the intuitive ‘Hey Mercedes’ interface which recognises and reacts to common commands as well as being able to learn the habits and preferences of the driver.
It also gets the new Mercedes-Benz steering wheel equipped with buttons that respond to smartphone-style swipes and presses.
Also standard is satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio, keyless start, and faux leather sports seats.
A180 models will also be equipped with the Style Equipment Line which offers a distinctive diamond radiator grille and 17-inch alloy wheels. Vehicles produced and sold before June 2019 will also have the option of 18-inch wheels for a little extra coin.
Safety kit includes autonomous emergency braking, active lane keep assist, active parking assist with Parktronic, blind spot assist with exit warning, active brake assist, traffic sign assist, a reversing camera and LED headlights.
Powering the A180 is a 1.3-litre turbocharged engine developing 100kW/200Nm which is mated to a seven-speed DCT automatic. The combined fuel consumption figure comes in at 5.7L/100km.
The A180 joins the A200 model which is currently available from $47,200 plus on-road costs and offers 18-inch alloy wheels, Progressive Equipment Line, wireless charging, adaptive high beam assist, and 120kW/250Nm from the same engine-transmission combination.
Two new models will also be joining the line-up, one a front-wheel drive version of the A250 Limited Edition which will feature the same equipment and technical specs.
The other variant is the A250 4Matic with AMG Line, which will include 18-inch AMG bi-colour alloy wheels, AMG Line body styling, Night Package with window tint, keyless entry and push-button start, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and upholstery in a faux leather/Dinamica mix.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A200 and A250 4Matic Limited Edition are available now with the new A180, A250 (FWD) and A250 4Matic with AMG Line available to order with an arrival date suggested during the first quarter of 2019.
