Specifications and pricing have been announced for the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan range.
Opening the range is the A180 which is priced from $44,900 plus on-road costs. The price leader will not arrive locally until August. In the meantime, the A200 is available priced from $49,400 plus on-roads.
Standard equipment on the A180 includes the dual-screen MBUX infotainment system with DAB+ digital radio, navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 225W nine-speaker audio system, keyless start, faux leather trim, a new sports steering wheel, climate control air conditioning and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Autonomous emergency braking, active parking assist, lane keep assist, active brake assist, blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and traffic sign recognition are also standard.
Powering the A180 Sedan is a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 100kW of power and 200Nm of torque. Drive goes to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the combined cycle, fuel consumption is listed at 5.7L/100km.
Moving to the A200 adds 18-inch alloy wheels, ‘Progressive’ exterior and interior design package, a two-pipe chrome-tipped exhaust system, four-way electro-pneumatic lumbar support for the driver’s seat, a folding rear armrest, adaptive high-beam assist, and wireless charging for eligible smartphones.
A200 variants are also powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, with increased outputs of 120kW and 250Nm. It is paired with the same a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. On the combined cycle, fuel consumption is an identical 5.7L/100km.
The Sedan rides on the same 2729mm wheelbase as the Hatch, however, it offers 420 litres of boot space, a 60L increase.
The A200 Sedan is on sale in Australia now with the A180 to reach showrooms in August. Later this year an A250 variant and Mercedes-AMG A35 Sedan will join the line-up.
