Specifications and pricing for the updated and expanded 2019 MG ZS SUV range have been announced this week, with the refreshed line-up opening at $22,990 drive-away.
The range now consists of the 1.5L Excite, the new 1.0T Excite Plus and the upgraded MG 1.0T Essence.
The base model Excite is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine producing 84kW and 150Nm. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.
For a price leader, the Excite is generously appointed, standard kit includes 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, cruise control, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, LED daytime running lights, heated mirrors and tyre pressure monitoring.
On the inside, there’s an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear-view camera and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Buyers can choose either artificial leather or cloth for the seat trim, each with contrast stitching.
Moving to the new mid-range Excite Plus ($24,990 drive-away) upgrades the powertrain to a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that develops 82kW and 160Nm, it’s paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. All of the standard features of the base model are carried over.
At the business end of the ZS range is the Essence ($26,990 drive-away), it uses the same turbocharged engine as the Excite Plus but adds a panoramic sunroof, keyless start and satellite navigation.
Every ZS variant is backed with a seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty and seven years of roadside assistance coverage.
