Local specs and pricing have been announced for the special edition Peugeot 308 GT hatch which starts from $39,990 plus on-road costs.
Limited to just 140 examples nationally, Peugeot says the GT has been “designed and engineered for those who want access to greater power without compromising overall comfort and practicality.”
Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 165kW at 5500rpm and 285Nm at 1750rpm. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a new eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission which will soon be available in the wider Peugeot range.
The GT features a lower ride height (7mm front and 10mm rear) when compared to other 308 models with stiffer springs (10 per cent) and dampers (20 per cent). Peugeot says the suspension is performance-tuned.
The Driver Sport Pack is standard and brings a sportier engine note which is amplified, firmer and more responsive power steering, sharper throttle response and a unique red illuminated instrument cluster that displays power and torque, turbocharger boost pressure and longitudinal and transverse acceleration readouts.
Further equipment highlights include 18-inch ‘Diamant’ alloy wheels, dual chrome exhausts, GT badges, LED headlights, front seats with electric lumbar support and massage function, red contrast stitching throughout the cabin, a 9.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, privacy glass, keyless entry, push-button start and alloy pedals.
Standard safety tech includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop & go, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, park assist and tyre pressure monitoring.
Buyers can choose from six exterior colours that include Hurricane Grey (solid), Magnetic Blue, Pearl White, Ultimate Red, Nera Black and Platinum Grey. Metallic colours cost an additional $590 while premium colours (red and white) add $1050.
The Peugeot 308 GT is available in dealerships now.
