Updates for the 2019 Ram 1500 range have been revealed with the American pick-up getting additional equipment and extra bling.
The 1500 Express Quad Cab variant gets a new reversing camera and Trailer Brake Control.
The range-topping 1500 Laramie will sport a new front grille that replaces the somewhat iconic ‘crosshair’ grille. There’s also ‘high vis’ Ram badging at the rear. These changes also apply to the 2500 Laramie.
Power comes from a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 developing 291kW and 556Nm. Drive is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Both variants feature low range, however, Laramie models get an electric full-time on-demand transfer case while the Express variants use a part-time unit.
One of the biggest drawcards for the Ram 1500 is the towing capacity. Across the range, Ram offers a choice of two axle ratios to best match the intended use. The 3.92 axle ratio provides a 4500kg tow rating with 70mm tow ball. The towing capacity drops to 3500kg with the 3.21 ratio. A heavy-duty tow bar and 12 pin towing harness are included on all models as standard.
The Ram 1500 comes with a three-year/100,000km warranty with roadside assistance. A trip to the hoist is required every 12 months or 12,000km.
