The current generation Subaru Forester has upheld its safety credentials with Australia’s independent authority on vehicle safety, ANCAP, awarding a full five-star safety rating for the SUV.

Achieving the maximum five-star safety rating makes the latest generation Forester the fourth of this model to do so.

Scores for each of the four test areas were consistent with Adult Occupant Protection achieving 94 per cent, Child Occupant Protection achieving 86 per cent whilst Vulnerable Road User Protection and Safety Assist achieved 80 per cent and 78 per cent respectively.

ANCAP Chief Executive, James Goodwin, said: “The Forester scored full points for the physical protection of child occupants in both side and frontal impact tests.”

“It is also equipped with an active safety system which can intervene to avoid a crash when a lane-change is made in error,” Mr Goodwin added.

Mr Goodwin also commented on how encouraged he was to see Subaru prioritizing and improving vehicle safety for their customers.

The five-star ANCAP safety rating applies to all Australian and New Zealand Subaru Forester vehicles sold since September 2018.
