Australian specs and pricing have been announced for the updated 2020 Audi A4 range which is already arriving in dealerships.
Pricing starts at $55,900 plus on-road costs for the A4 35 TFSI and tops out at $74,900 plus on-roads for the A4 Allroad 45 TFSI.
The entry-level A4 35 TFSI sedan uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid system to produce 110kW and 270Nm. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends drive to the front wheels.
According to Audi, the 35 TFSI can sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds and sips 6.1L/100km on the combined cycle.
Standard equipment includes automatic LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and push-button start, a rear-view camera, parking sensors, cruise control, wireless smartphone charging, leather trim, ambient lighting, a powered driver’s seat, three-zone air conditioning and a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat.
There’s also a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, DAB+ digital radio, satellite navigation and an eight-speaker sound system.
Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, eight airbags, side assist, lane change warning, exit warning system, rear cross-traffic assist and a tyre pressure monitor are also included as standard.
Audi will also offer the 35 TFSI S line variant which adds an S line exterior pack, a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit, front sport front seats with electric adjustment, illuminated aluminum door sill trims with an S logo, a frameless, auto-dimming interior mirror and auto-dimming exterior mirrors.
Stepping up to the A4 45 TFSI brings a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine augmented by a 12V mild-hybrid system to produce 183kW of power and 370Nm of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the quattro all-wheel drive system.
The 45 TFSI powertrain is available across the sedan, Avant and Allroad body styles.
Audi claims a 0-100km/h time of 5.8 seconds for the sedan, 6.0 seconds for the Avant, and 6.1 seconds for the Allroad. Consumption on the combined cycle is listed at 7.1L/100km for the sedan, 7.3L/100km for the Avant and 7.4L/100km for the Allroad.
Additional equipment on the 45 TFSI variants includes a 10-speaker sound system, a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel, aluminium inlays, and a memory function for the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors. The Avant wagon also gets an electric gesture-controlled tailgate and roof rails as standard.
The A4 Allroad features an extra 46mm of ground clearance over the standard A4, as well as a 6mm wider front track and 11mm increased rear track. It also gets an off-road driving mode, unique front and rear bumpers, cladding over the wheel arches, an Allroad-specific grille and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Audi will also offer the Allroad is 40 TDI quattro trim. Power comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine developing 140kW and 400Nm. Drive is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Performance-wise, the Allroad 40 TDI runs from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds and drinks 5.2L/100km on the combined cycle.
