After a long wait, the Bentley Bentayga Hybrid has gone on sale in Europe.

Bentley originally revealed the Bentayga Hybrid at the 2018 Geneva motor show, however, its market launch was delayed due to the new WLTP testing protocols.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain utilises a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine and an electric motor. Bentley hasn’t confirmed the power output, however, expect it to be close to the 340kW generated in the Cayenne E-Hybrid sister car. The brand has announced the Bentagya PHEV will pack 700Nm.

When the 17.3kWh battery pack is fully charged, the Bentayga offers an electric driving 39km (WLTP), which is down on the 50km the marque quoted when the car was revealed.

The battery can be replenished in just 2.5 hours, and combined with a full tank, a cruising range of up to 747km is possible.

To help drivers maximise efficiency, the car gets intelligent satellite navigation which automatically calculates the most effective route when a journey is entered into the system.

In terms of performance, the Bentayga Hybrid can sprint from 0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 254km/h.

The order books are open now in Europe and the US with European deliveries set to begin in the final quarter of 2019, while those stateside will be waiting until the first quarter of 2020.

Bentley’s Australian arm is yet to confirm availability, specs and pricing for our market. Stay tuned!
