BMW has announced specs and pricing for the new 2 Series Gran Coupe range ahead of a local arrival in the first quarter of 2020.
At launch, the 2 Series Gran Coupe range will consist of the 218i and M235i xDrive, mirroring the new 1 Series line-up.
Priced from $47,990 plus on-road costs, the 218i is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine developing 103kW and 220Nm. The torque is sent to the front axle through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission as standard. According to BMW, the 218i can run from 0-100km/h in 8.7 seconds.
Standard kit includes the M Sport package, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and tail-lights, sports seats trimmed in cloth/Sensatec upholstery, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, a head-up display and wireless smartphone charging.
The M235i xDrive (priced from $69,990 plus on-roads) uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 225kW and 450Nm. An eight-speed automatic sends power to the adaptive M xDrive all-wheel drive system. BMW says it can complete the 0-100km/h dash in 4.9 seconds.
Moving to the M235i xDrive adds M Sport Brakes, M Sport Steering, an M rear spoiler, 19-inch alloy wheels, BMW Digital Key, M Sport seats, Dakota leather trim, adaptive LED headlights, and a 16-speaker Harmon/Kardon surround sound system.
