Australian specs and pricing have been announced for the new BMW M8 Competition Coupe ahead of a local arrival in the first quarter of 2020.
Pricing for the brand’s fastest-ever M model starts at $352,900 plus on-road costs.
Powering the M8 Competition Coupe is a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 460kW and 750Nm. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
There is also a dedicated rear wheel drive mode and an Active M Differential that distributes power between the rear wheels to ensure optimal traction and directional stability.
BMW claims the 0-100km/h dash takes just 3.2 seconds, and top speed is 305km/h.
Underneath, the M8 Competition Coupe features double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension with reinforcements to key components and chassis elements backed by knowledge gained during development of the M8 GTE race car.
A negative camber of -1.2 degrees on the front wheels also delivers enhanced front-end grip and sharp handling.
M compound brakes with blue calipers are standard, while M Carbon Ceramic brakes can be specified as an option. Both systems are supported by the debut of an integrated adjustable M-specific brake system.
Style-wise, the exterior gets large air intakes at the front, M-specific exterior mirrors, 20-inch M alloy wheels, and a Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) roof featuring the ‘double-bubble’ design.
On the inside, buyers get M Sport seats trimmed in Merino leather, an instrument panel finished in Walknappa leather, a head-up display with M-specific content and Live Cockpit Professional that brings the latest OS 7.0 and Intelligent Personal Assistant.
