Specs and pricing have been announced for the 2020 Ford Everest range headlined by the addition of a new Everest Sport variant priced from $62,290 plus on-road costs.
The Everest Sport will be positioned between the Trend and Titanium grades, and be available with two powertrain options starting with the 3.2-litre 143kW/470Nm five-cylinder turbo-diesel matched with a six-speed automatic. Alternatively, buyers can opt for the new 2.0-litre 157kW/500Nm bi-turbo four-cylinder oiler paired with a 10-speed automatic.
Regardless of the engine, the Everest Sport is sold exclusively as a seven-seat, all-wheel drive SUV.
Differentiating the Everest Sport is a mesh front grille finished in black with ‘Everest’ lettering, new Bi-LED headlights (provides 17 per cent greater lighting penetration, and a 20 per cent greater penetration in high-beam mode), black lower bumper accents, black exterior mirrors, black window surrounds, black roof rails and black 20-inch alloy wheels.
There’s also unique ‘Sport’ badging, as well as a new Deep Crystal Blue hero colour.
On the inside, buyers get Raceway Blue door pulls and trims, leather-accented first and second-row seating, an embossed ‘Sport’ logo on the front seats and unique Capital Blue stitching and a soft-touch dash pad.
Safety-wise, the Everest Sport gets autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping aid, traffic sign recognition, automatic high-beam, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, hill descent control, hill launch assist and an E-locking rear differential.
For 2020, the wider Everest range now features a windscreen mounted USB-port to connect a dash-cam as standard, while the Trend and Titanium grades add Ford’s high-performance bi-LED headlight system.
