Updates to the 2020 Honda Civic hatch range have been announced which bring it into line with the revised sedan line-up.

 

The headline act is the wider availability of the full Honda Sensing Suite of safety technologies which is now standard on the VTi-L and RS grades. Previously, only the range-topping VTi-LX variant was equipped with all the safety kit.

 

Honda will continue to offer five grades – VTi, VTi-S, VTi-L, RS and VTi-LX – which have all received a facelift that includes a fresh front grille, and new front and rear bumper designs which incorporate body-coloured accents in the new lower panel section.

 

The entry-level VTi gets new wheel designs, along with Ignite Red metallic and Taffeta White paint colour options.

 

Moving to the VTi-S also adds rear privacy glass and chequered-accent seat trim, while the VTi-L model gets new 17-inch alloys and automatic high-beam as part of the aforementioned safety package.

 

RS models get new 18-inch alloy wheels with wider 235/40 ZR18 95Y Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, as well as the option of Phoenix Orange pearlescent paint. There is also red contrast stitching throughout the interior that’s exclusive to the RS.

 

VTi-LX models now feature the previous RS wheel design but in a new dark grey finish.

 

On the inside, all models benefit from changes to the instrument panel that includes redesigned controls for the audio and ventilation systems which make it easier to use on the move. Hard keys have been added for the most commonly used functions, along with a dedicated volume control knob.

 

The range will remain powered by the 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine offering 104kW and 174Nm for the VTi and VTi-S, while the VTi-L, RS and VTi-LX use the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine which develops 127kW and 220Nm.

 

The updated Honda Civic hatch range is officially on sale from January 15, 2020, priced from $22,790 plus on-road costs.
